Hey... I requested to join quite a few days ago, someone submitted my pic and I like to be a part of the group's that have my stuff in them... Plus I do enjoy Okinawa, always love my visits
Haisai~! For quite a long time now I've searched the Internet for words in Okinawan and have found some sites that look good, but alas it is still difficult to find more words
Well, I recently found that "Chaachaa" means "Daddy" - is that true? (I've seen more than once that "Suu" is "Father") And I know "Anmaa" is "Mother", but is there a version that's "Mommy"?
I think that okinawan dialect is quite uneasy to learn. I will try to help you at my level. I am not sure that "chaachaa" means daddy ("Suu" means definitely father) but there is another word to call father; it's "taarii". Unfortunately, I can't teach you the nuance of this word as I don't know myself. For Mommy, there is a word that could be close. it's " Ayaa". Once again, the nuance is kind of hard to define for me. Hope it could help! ^^
you are leaving okinawa? That's so sad... I understand how you feel. I left there one year ago... still not healing. I want to go back there. Take a lot of pictures! This club is also here for that... sharing fond memories.
